Jaclyn Vasenty has moved to the small town of Serene so she can clean up her bad girl ways. She also is out to prove to her father’s board of directors of the family cosmetic company that she is the right person to take over the company. Serene isn’t quite what Jaclyn thought it was and she is finding it harder than ever to keep her desires in check. Now if she could just determine what is going on in this strange town it might help or it just might get her into a lot of trouble.
Slyck is a shape shifting panther that is just one of the paranormals that live in the town of Serene. Serene is actually the home of shape shifters, demons, vampires and witches and none of them like outsiders in their little town. Slyck feels that there is something very different about Jaclyn and he is starting to break the rules just to be with her and find out the truth about her. The one thing he never expected was what he is starting to feel for her and what is starting to look like is the truth about Jaclyn.
Things are brewing in the town and if Jaclyn wants to get out of town alive she is going to have to decide who to trust. Her instincts are telling her to trust Slyck. It is also starting to look like he is the only one that will be able to help her get out of town alive. Now they are going to have to trust each other and come up with a plan that will get them out of town. That just might be a lot easier said than done.
This story has a different take on paranormals that makes this one hard to put down. It is interesting to watch Jaclyn discover the truth about herself and her personal history and to see how she handles the things thrown her way. As you read you are constantly trying to determine what each character is up to and what will happen next. This makes for a very interesting read. The story moves along very smoothly and keeps your attention until the very end.
I give this one 4 red roses.

Bran soon realizes that they are dealing with two people that are working together so they will have all the magic they need to rule over both worlds.
Bran has to try to stop the murderers and deal with his feelings for Mairi. This becomes especially difficult since Mairi is the one mortal that give him more magical energy than he has ever been able to get from anyone before. There is another complication on top of the others Bran has an enemy from long ago who is trying to use Mairi to destroy him and the only way to stop his enemy is to stay away from Mairi, but Bran is finding out that is a lot easier said than done. With enemies all around them they are going to have to determine who they can trust so they will both come out of this alive.
This story has an interesting take on the Sidhe. The world building is very good and believable and comes to life for the reader. It has many twists and turns and you are not sure where the story will be going to next. The story takes the reader on a fantastic ride that you hate to see end. This is a fast pace story that will keep you reading until you get to the very last word.

This is different paranormal story that draws you in and refuses to let you go until the very last page. This is a great take on paranormal creatures that makes it a very fun read. The emotional highs and lows gets you rooting for Melina as she figures out the next moves to make to get out of this trouble alive. The author brings the world of paranormals alive with this one.

Out Of The Storm
OUT OF THE STORM
BY JANET THOMAS
PUBLISHED BY ROBERT HALE LONDON.
ISBN 978-0-7090-8902-5.
This is the story of two sisters, Loveday and Kate Trevarthen. It is set in the year of 1901 in Cornwall. The sisters were born and reared on a farm, but they now have very different lives
Loveday was married at the age of seventeen to a local fisherman, Joel. They lived very simple lives but were very happy, both of them were longing for a child. Loveday had already lost two babies and now she was pregnant again and desperate to keep this baby. Joel was away at sea for months at a time and although she had kind neighbors and the sisters met as often as they could, Loveday was still very lonely in her small cottage by the harbour. One day when Kate was visiting her, Loveday had a fall and the baby seemed as if it would be born imminently, much too early. What happened that night changed Loveday’s life forever.
Kate had married at the age of twenty, very well, it was assumed, to Arthur Rosewarne . He was very rich and owned a large house on the cliff top, they had several servants. His Mother Maud lived with them and openly showed her dislike of Kate, she was never good enough for her beloved Arthur.
It was in a time when women had little or no rights and the suffragette movement was becoming wide spread in England.
Kate had wonderful clothes and jewelry and it appeared that her husband adored her but was that true? Was Arthur the gentleman he would have everyone believe he was?
On the night that Lovelday gave birth there was a terrible storm and a ship was blown on to the rocks, everyone on board was lost, or so it was assumed.
This story has several twists and is a very enjoyable read; it is something a little different, told with obvious knowledge of the era and the local area.
I award this book 4.5 Red Roses. AS

This is a great shape shifter story that keeps the action and story line moving quickly. With all the different twist and turns this one takes you never know what is going to happen next and you don’t see the ending coming. This story has some very surprising twist that keeps you turning the pages just to find out what the answers are.

As Elise fights to keep her daughter, Brody and Elise are getting closer and are determined that once the fight with the in-laws is over they are going to have to do something so that they don’t lose what they now have and are determined to keep.
This is a really good story. It deals with everyday issues to where you feel for the characters but makes sure you get a happy ending. You see the characters just together at first for fun but has time goes by their feelings for each other deepen to the point they know they need to be together as they are happiest together and not apart.

Kenric is one of five Shadow Guardians that protect the human world from the supernatural world.
Sybil is a witch that has never been allowed to advance beyond apprentice witch. Checking out an estate sale Sybil stumbles across what she thinks is a grimoire that might be able to help her with her magic. And after she cuts her finger on it she decides she should buy it since she has bled on it. When she gets it home things start going very wrong very fast. The book takes on a life of its own and she is not sure how to stop it. Just as she thinks she is done for a giant wolf breaks down her apartment door. Now it is looking like things just went from bad to worse.
Kenric, a wolf shape shifter, was betrayed by witches in the past so he has no use for them nor does he trust them. This time he doesn’t have a choice but to help Sybil out since she called on the goddess, Inanna for help and the goddess has chosen to grant it. Now Kenric is going to have to deal with a witch and protect her from the grimoire that is more than just a book. By reading the grimoire Sybil accidentally opens a demon gate and will have to learn how to close it fast.
What Sybil doesn’t know is that her coven has been waiting for this day and they have no intention of closing the gate since it will give them the power that they crave. They have plans that they have been waiting for a very long time to put into motion and now that Sybil has accidentally set things into motion, the coven is determined to make sure that the end result they envision is going to happen and nothing is going to stop them, least of all Sybil. But Sybil has learned a few things from the guardians that just might be able to stop her coven once and for all.
This is a very scorching hot story that is very hard to put down. With all the twist and turns this one takes you never know what is going to happen and you are never disappointed with where this story goes too next. It is fun to see Sybil learn how to use the power she has acquired and as she finds her way in a world she never dreamed was real. The story line is very fast paced which makes the reading very easy. You hate to get to the end even though you hate to put the book down so you get to the end faster.

The Rake and The Redhead
THE RAKE AND THE REDHEAD
BY
EMILY JOHNSON
PUBLISHED BY ROBERT HALE LONDON.
ISBN 978-0-7090-8629-1.
Dashing to a village near Oxford, to try and help her dearest cousin Jane, the beautiful Miss Hyacinthe Dancy still held Jane’s letter in her hand.
She felt Tom the coachman slowing down, and peeping from the carriage window she saw they were about to go into the yard of The Black Lion Inn where they were to spend the night. It looked a superior inn and she was pleased to get out of the coach, tomorrow they would reach Jane’s cottage and then the battle would begin. Hyacinthe had no intention of letting the Lord of the Manor, whoever he was; tear down a whole village just to improve the view from his house.
Hyacinthe was travelling with her companion and maid Forsdick who was the most respectable person one would ever wish to meet mused Hyacinthe and without whom, her Aunt Bel would not have allowed Hyacinthe to speed to Jane, and try to rescue her cottage, and indeed the whole village.
While in the Inn yard a gentleman lazily strode across to speak to the Inn Keeper, who at first thought that Miss Dancy was not quite the type of person he wished to stay at his Inn. But as she was soon joined by Forsdick and Her coachman he quickly saw that he had been mistaken. The Gentleman turned to speak to Hyacinthe and she recognized the heartbreakingly handsome, but scandalous rake, Lord Norwood, who she had met previously in London and who had almost ignored her, then. She still smarted from his obvious lack of interest in her, and the greeting she gave him was very cool. Hyacinthe hoped that she would not have to meet him again for a very long time.
When she finally reached Jane’s Cottage, she decided it was as beautiful as she remembered and it strengthened her determination to save it from the heartless Lord of the Manor. It was not only Jane who would be forced to leave her home, but all of the other people who lived in the pretty village of Worthington would also so have to leave. True the lord was building a new village just a short way from Worthington, but it could not be the same, as a home you had loved and lived in for most of your life, as almost all of the villagers had.
Jane was delighted to welcome Hyacinthe to her home, but doubted that she would be able to alter the Lord’s mind. When Hyacinthe learned that it was indeed Lord Norwood who was riding rough shod over her dear Jane’s wishes and the villager’s too, she was ready for battle.
This is a delightful Regency tale with twists and turns and told in a charming way. It is full of fun and Lord Norwood finds that he has met his match in Miss Hyacinthe Dancy. Will Hyacinthe lose the battle to save Worthington and also lose her heart or will Lord Norwood be triumphant and move the village and break her heart also. Read this charming Regency Novel, and enjoy the adventures which unfold throughout its pages, it is fun. I give this book 5+ Red Roses and hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. AS.

Secret Inheritance
SECRET INHERITANCE.
BY S R BRIDGE.
PUBLISHED BY ROBERT HALE LONDON.
ISBN 978-0-7090-8918-6.
Dorothea Harcourt an orphan since the age of twelve, had been brought by her Aunt and Uncle. Since her uncle died, his widow Mrs Sophie Harcourt and her cousin Clio Harcourt were her only family. Dorothea had been left an inheritance, which her Aunt believed to be small, but it in fact was quite large but had a mystery behind it which must not be revealed.
Dorothea had sold the small house she had inherited and in this way she was able to contribute to the running of their home and to help with small outings. She dared not do more as she knew her Aunt would wonder where the funds were coming from and that would never do.
The three ladies at this time were enjoying a little holiday in Matlock Bath. It was a quiet little town and not at all to Clio’s taste, as there seemed to be no young suitable gentlemen about. Dorothea would have loved to take her Aunt and Clio, somewhere more fashionable but Mrs Harcourt refused because it would have been too expensive. Dorothea knew she would have to find away to persuade her Aunt to let her lease a house in London so that Clio could have a season there. Clio was so beautiful that Dorothea knew she would meet someone suitable if only she had the chance, so she was determined to find a way to rent a house in London.
Walking on her own one day towards Matlock Vale, to blow the cobwebs away ,she was wandering around a bend in the road, so absorbed in her own thoughts that she did not notice a sporting curricle speeding towards her, at the last minute she saw it ,but tripping over her long shawl she ended up sprawled on the small bank at the side of the road.
The driver pulled his horses to and jumping down on to the road he put his hand out to help her stand and then berated her for being so stupid as to walk in the road. Dorothea was furious telling him that he should not have been driving so recklessly. After at first taking Dorothea for a local farm girl, the driver realised his mistake and apologised, he introduced himself as Martin Detherfield and offered her a lift into Matlock, as he was going that way. At fist Dorothea refused but as she was a bit shaken by her fall, she gave way and accepted a lift.
At the hotel Mrs Harcourt and the girls had met a certain Mrs Howard who was not a suitable person with which to associate, but she was a very hard lady to refuse, and seemed intent on clinging on to them all. She hinted to Dorothea that she recognised her and had known her Mother and that they had been very close. This alarmed Dorothea as her late Mother was part of the secret that the Lawyers had impressed on her must be kept.
What was the secret that Dorothea must not reveal? How could she escape the attentions of the menacing Mrs Howard and how was she to persuade her Aunt to go to London and give Clio her chance to find happiness with the right sort of man.
Does the driver of the curricle have secrets too and does he add to her fears? There is so much more to this delightful Historical romance , kidnapping and treachery add to the interest also.
I hope I have wetted your appetites with this little review, to add more would spoil it.
I loved this book and award it 5 Red Roses. AS

This Historic romance is set in Bath in 1810, but it really began five years before, when a fire swept through, Beech Park, the home of Miss Adele Russell, killing her father, a wealthy banker. That terrible night ruined her life, she not only lost her Father, but subsequently his reputation was ruined also, as he was accused of being an embezzler. Adele knew that the evidence against her father was false and that he had known who the embezzler really was, but all the evidence was lost in the fire, which Adele was sure had been deliberately started, although she could not prove it.
Now Miss Adele Russell worked and lived in a Haberdashery shop in fashionable Milsome Street, which was leased by her former nurse, Miss Cat Rogers, who loved her as her own daughter. Although Adele would forever be grateful to her nurse and indeed did love her dearly, she missed her former life and the last five years had been very hard.
At the time of the fire and the death of her father, which broke her heart, yet another tragedy struck her, the man she was engaged to, David the Earl of Blaisdon, wrote to her saying the engagement was over and he then left the country. Her whole life it seemed was shattered, but she held her head high and with an inborn pride she made a new life with her nurse.
After being threatened by her father’s former clerk, who had suddenly become very rich, since the death of her father, Adele was to be plunged into danger and intrigue. She told him that she knew he was responsible for her father’s death and the false accusations. He laughed at her and told her to prove it.
When she found an invitation to a masked ball being held by the Duchess of Bellingham which had no name on it, in the street, she decided to go to the ball, believing no one would recognize her in a mask. Adele knew it was madness but it was an opportunity to capture her old life, if only for one night.
At the ball she was confronted by her former fiancé who whirled her into a waltz, although he had no idea who she was, as soon as the music stopped she walked away from him leaving him standing in the middle of the ballroom. The rest of the evening she made sure that she kept out of his way. Dancing only with another gentleman who she did not recognize but who made her feel special and alive again. Adele knew she was being unwise but the feelings she was having were exciting and for the first time in five years she was really enjoying herself. Adele would not identify herself to the romantic masked man and he found this tantalizing and begged her to meet him the next day.
Will Adele bury her fears and meet the masked man or will she stay away from him and her former fiancĂ©. Will her life change again and will she ever be able to clear her father’s name?
