Tell us a little about yourself

Hm...It’s hard to know where to begin, so I’ll start with a brief overview. I’m a mother of three ‘grown’ children, living in Eastern Canada and have been married to the same great guy for 28 years. WOW! I can’t believe it’s been that long! I guess the old adage is true. Time flies when you are having fun. :o) I love writing, reading and crafting.

When my youngest left for university, I went to college and earned a diploma in Human Resources Management. A great field for a writer because so often you have to deal with the idiosyncrasies of people.

I’ve been scribbling stuff all my life, but it was about ten years ago I made a disciplined effort to put all the story ideas swirling around my head into words and started writing a novel instead of just writing down random ideas. Since then, I’ve taken three writing courses, and I’ve been writing part-time ever since. There were two or three years when I didn’t write much at all because I’d rejoined the work force.

What do you write?

I write romance in different flavours. I enjoy mysteries and often find myself writing romantic suspense, but I also enjoy a story that tugs at the heart strings, so I have a few more dramatic romances. I think closest to my heart is paranormal romance. Always a lover of fairy tales, creating tales with mystical creatures in magical location really fires up my imagination.

Why do you write?

Because I can’t “not write.” It’s often the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing that I think about after I shut my eyes. Characters and their stories and their fictional worlds follow me around, demanding that I write their stories.

What are you writing now?

I’m working on edits of a novella called “Irrepressible”, a sequel to “Incorrigible” that was part of the Crimson Z Anthology. I have a couple other projects on the go. One is a ‘book of my heart’ called “Impractical Magic.” It’s that book that you write from the pure joy of writing it.

What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

I love comfy clothes, nothing that is binding or restricting.

Are you in love? Have you ever been?

Definitely and we’ve been married for almost 29 years

Do you have a dream lover – and what does he look like?

My dream lover is definitely an Adrian Paul twin.

What kind of comfort food do you like best?

Dark chocolate...my #1 favourite is Belgium.

What makes you laugh? Cry?

I laugh a lot with my friends...we’re pretty goofy. I cry when another person is in pain. It just tugs at something inside me and the tears just flow.

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?

I love being creative – writing, sewing, cross-stitch, scrapbooking, and many other venues. I hate being idle...and sitting with nothing to do drives me crazy.

What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!

Sensitivity and gentleness. There isn’t anything better than a look or a touch that tells you that you are loved. It doesn’t have to be overtly sensual, it could be a simple kiss on the side of the neck or cheek in the middle of a busy day.

What do you hate about life?

Hm...I love living, so it’s hard to think about something that I hate. I really don’t like battling insecurities everyday, which seems to be a never ending battle.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

It think this was best said by a ‘great spirit’ who was part of an animated Christmas production...when the youthful fellow who would become Saint Nicholas asked what was the purpose of life, the wise spirit said, “To leave the world a better place than when you came into it.” I hope that I can leave this world a better place – meaning that I can write something that will bring enjoyment to someone, recycle and be aware of preserving the earth, and generally be a support to people in need.

On the writing front, I think success comes every time someone says that they enjoyed your book.

What are you going to write next?

My current project is editing “Irrepressible.” After that, I’m going to spend some time just writing for fun and see if I can finish “Impractical Magic.” That is a story about a gal who finds out she has latent magical powers when she encounters a locket which has been a prison to a wizard for four hundred years.

I am reading The Curse now for review and it is wonderful!
Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a Midwest girl, grew up in Ohio, transplanted to Kentucky when I went to college. Some people would say Kentucky is south, but where I live it is still sorta Midwest. I have a hint of a southern accent but still a lot of Ohio in me. I have two grown children, a boy and a girl, and three adorable little grandbabies, ages 3, 2 and 1. Yes, my daughter is busy. I love to see them when I can and marvel at how much they grow and learn everyday.

I work full time for a non-profit literacy organization and spend a large majority of my time working in schools on American Indian reservations. So, I travel quite a bit and have learned to write on the laptop in airports and hotels quite handily.


What do you write?

I started out writing category romance back in the late 90’s for Kensington but my writing muse has turned me into a new direction the past few years. For the most part I’m writing light paranormal and romantic suspense/thrillers. Everything seems to have a suspense edge to it.

Why do you write?

Because I can’t not write! Back in 2000 I got a new day job. It was a huge learning curve for me. One of my coworkers described it as going back to graduate school. Yeah, it was like that. A lot of research and reading and writing and travelling. And I stopped writing. I was off-balance for four long years. Finally figured out what was going on. There were too many stories in my head! I had to get them out! It’s just a part of me and those stories just nag and nag, so they have to be told.

What are you writing now?

I’m working on a time-travel trilogy at the moment. The books are contracted so I’m on deadline. Book one, THE CURSE, will be released in November 07. I’m writing book two, now. I’m also working on a pretty hot romance/thriller, too, that is currently not contracted.


What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

It depends on the occasion. I’m usually pretty casual. My work on the reservations dictates what I wear there. Business casual is way to dressy. For the office, that’s fine. But what I REALLY like to wear is my jeans and comfy shirts and if it’s winter, I’ll be wearing my cowboy books, likely. I just love ‘em? Now, when I get home in the evening after work, I wear the slouchiest most comfortable sweats I can find, or maybe even a nice comfy nightgown!

Are you in love? Have you ever been?

I’m currently not in a relationship or in love. I lost someone I loved very much about a year ago. I’ve been in love before, yes, a few times.

Do you have a dream lover – and what does he look like?

I don’t know if I can describe what he would look likes as much as I could describe how he would make me feel. His love would be all-consuming, unconditional, and would just wrap me up with it.

What kind of comfort food do you like best?

Lasagna. Hands down. With a chocolate chaser.

What makes you laugh? Cry?

These days, lots of things! But we wont’ go into hormones. Small children make me laugh. Anything slightly emotional makes me cry anymore.

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?

When am I not working?  I leave the day job and come home to write most day. But, I love working outside in my yard, fiddling with the plants, getting my hands dirty. I walk, a lot. And I read and watch movies. Oh! I cook, too. Love to cook. I am working on a cookbook, too.

What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!

What do you hate about life?

I can’t say I hate anything about life. I usually roll with the punches and try to find the lesson learned or the message in just about everything.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

If my children remain successful adults I will be happy. If I can make a difference, even a small difference, in the lives of other people, I will be satisfied. If my stories make my readers feel something, that would please me.

What are you going to write next?

I have a plethora of projects going! Once the time-travel trilogy is finished, I have a little Cajun werewolf story that is waiting on me, and the thriller, and another romantic suspense, and a Native American story, a witch, and even a futuristic… See, they are all there in my head just begging for release!

Tell us a little about yourself
Just a little? Okay, I live in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. We’ve only been here for three years, after moving from Melbourne. We decided to have a complete change from city to country living, and we love it. We have five acres with a few alpacas and sheep to keep the grass down and several dogs and cats and now birds. It’s a lovely area surrounded by apple, pear and cherry orchards. Lots of bird life, parrots, cockatoos, galahs. They’re incredibly rowdy at times, but much less intrusive than city noises. We even see wedge-tailed eagles which is a huge thrill for the kids. They run in shrieking “The eagles are coming! The eagles are coming!” It sounds like something straight out of Tolkien.

What do you write?
I write Regency Historicals for Harlequin. I’ve always loved history, and I particularly enjoy the Regency period. I like the clothes then more than what followed so this tends to stop me at about 1825.

Why do you write?
Because I’d go completely mad now if I didn’t. Of course it’s entirely possible that my family would tell I’m already mad . . . I always have characters – no, people – walking around in my head, and I just have to tell their stories as best I can. I also enjoy the research – it’s nice to have a tax-proof, husband-proof, excuse for all the books I like to buy.

What are you writing now?
I’m finishing off another Regency. It picks up on a secondary character from my last two books. Quite a few readers have asked me about Julian, so I hope they enjoy his story. There’s a bit about him in the book I have out in North America in September, A Compromised Lady.

What kind of clothes do you like to wear?
Would you believe I belong to a nudist colony? No, scrub that – generally whatever I find handy in the morning. Living on a small property as we do, I find jeans and sturdy boots the best bet most days unless I have to go into town in which case my town clothes and shoes are hauled out. Most of the time I just don’t worry much. I enjoy getting dressed up when necessary, but I’m probably most comfortable in pants and jumpers.



Are you in love? Have you ever been?
Who hasn’t? Honestly, I’d worry about anyone who hadn’t been in love. Yes. I suppose I fell in and out of love several times in my late teens, but I met my husband when I was nearly 21 and that was that. We’ve been married for over 18 years now and I can’t imagine being with anyone else.

Do you have a dream lover – and what does he look like?
Well if I did he’d look like Hugh Jackman, but don’t tell my husband. Although he probably knows! We were watching Leopold and Kate some years back and it got to the part where she has to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge to get back to him. I was sitting there yelling, “JUMP! For God’s sake, JUMP before it’s too late!” My husband just stared at me and said, “Um, this is the Brooklyn Bridge she’s got to jump off! Would you do it?”
To which my reply was; “For Hugh Jackman?? In a heartbeat!”

What kind of comfort food do you like best?
Chocolate works for me.

What makes you laugh? Cry?
Like the rest of the world, I’ve just been reading the last Harry Potter book. That certainly made me laugh and cry.

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?
Reading. Walking. Listening to music. I’m fairly busy with two children and all the animals around the place when I’m not working. Also I’ve ended up on several local committees which takes up some time.

What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!
Kindness and humour. Honesty is important, but I do rather take that for granted. I mean if they aren’t honest then I’m not even going to like them.



What do you hate about life?
I honestly can’t think of anything I hate about life itself. I hate injustice of any sort in the world, but that’s not Life. Life itself is great and to a certain degree it is what you make it. The trick is to realise when you’re happy and well off and to enjoy what you’ve got rather than always wanting what the other person’s got. That’s not to say that you should sit back on your backside and never try to achieve anything, just that we have to enjoy our own lives without comparing them to others. I think. Works for me, anyway.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?
I tend to think of life in five year lots and set a goal or plan for that time rather than having one over-riding plan. Things change. Right now apart from writing, my major focus is on my children. Raising them and trying to remember that being a good parent doesn’t necessarily mean having perfectly obedient children. At least I hope it doesn’t, otherwise I’ve crashed and burned already! I also tend to think of success as an ongoing thing. Not something we aspire to and then sit back and enjoy. It’s a bit like marriage I suppose. You have to keep working at it and earning it.

What are you going to write next?
I’ve got a couple of ideas floating around. One is a novella, the other two are full length historicals. I’ve started writing one of them so I’ll probably go with that and maybe work on the novella as well. I enjoy novellas for a change of weight and pace, both reading as well as writing.

Annie and James meet online in a chat room where they find they have similar interests. Over time they become intimate in their conversations and start playing out their fantasies online. Annie and James decide to meet in person at a restaurant. They talked through the evening until the restaurant closed. Leaving the restaurant they go to James’ friends’ house where he is staying. Here they physically play out their fantasies for the first time. As time goes on and they see more of each other and feel more for each other. Unexpectedly James ends their relationship. He won’t speak or write to Annie. This devastates Annie. She tries to put her life back together without James in it.



Two years later Annie is at a jazz festival, which James had told her about earlier when they were still together. Trying to decide where she would like to eat Annie stops briefly and finds herself in a middle of a scuffle. She is pushed from behind and loses her balance and falls to the ground hitting her head losing consciousness. While falling, she thinks she sees James out of the corner of her eye. Regaining consciousness Annie finds herself in the hospital with a very bad headache. The doctor tells her that while there appears to be no concussion, she is well enough to leave but only to the care of her friend. That friend turns out to be James. Annie doesn’t want to go with James after the way he treated her in the past. She reluctantly agrees to leave with James just to get out of the hospital. To avoid being hurt again Annie tries to keep some distance between James and herself. James thinks he understands why Annie is being aloof but is still frustrated by the circumstances that originally got in their way. He feels the problems that drove him away originally are still there, so he fights his feelings for Annie. Annie never knew what drove James away in the first place. She just remembers that it almost destroyed her when he left without a word. Annie feels that since she has to stay with James only a couple of days she can cope with the situation for that length of time. James takes care of Annie while there is the chance that she has a concussion from the fall. They still find an attraction for each other and start to pick up the relationship where it was before it ended. They find the easy friendship and love that they shared before is still there. While spending some quiet time together the phone rings and James goes to answer it to find it is the doctor calling to check on Annie and give her a clean bill of health. This leads to James, once again, trying to push her out of his life by coldly telling her that it is time for her to leave this reawakens all the pain and anguish that Annie had suffered the first time around. Annie goes to pack up her clothes to leave. After a while James thinks it has been too long so he goes look for her. He finds her partially filled suitcase but Annie is not around. James hears the shower running and finds her sitting under a stream of ice cold water sobbing. Finding her emotionally distraught James decides to talk to her instead kicking her out. As they talk James finds the complications that kept them apart are not there anymore and he asks why he was not told. Annie says he made it clear that he didn’t care so she felt he wouldn’t be interested in knowing. James tells Annie that he loved her then and still loves her now. After some discussion they decide to start over and try again.





This is an interesting book. You start to feel Annie’s emotional anguish and pain at James’ seemingly arbitrary and capricious behavior. It is worth the time to read. Some of the sexual fantasies some readers might find objectionable. All in all the book ends with a silver lining. LW

This is very definitely for eighteen plus! So be warned.

Interview with Richard Savage

Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Richard Savage, I am an Artist and writer form Cambridgeshire in the England. My art background is in illustration fine art and technical drawing. I work mainly in acrylics, but am also happy working in oils, pastels, line and wash, watercolour and mixed media. I draw inspiration from classical art, and the styles of the contemporary artists Boris Vallejo and Jack Vettriano.

My current projects are concentrating on figurative art, for illustrations and book covers. I am working currently for four American publishing houses. I also undertake private commissions and consider most professional work. I have never shied away from provocative topics that include: fetish, BDSM, D/s, gothic, gay, lesbian, fantasy. And this also reflects in my writing.

What do you write?

I started with children’s stories, but I never really had any success with that. The topic that grabbed me, was the erotic, I have always been fascinated by what makes people tick. I like to get right into the characters and hopefully make them come alive emotionally. So my stories are usually erotically charged with what I hope are characters the reader will be able to relate to. A lot of my art explores the subject of power exchange and I guess in writing I take the exploration one step further, looking to delve into the nature of domination and submission. The whole subject seems natural to me. I see it portrayed in the media as a negative and scary thing, but my experience, with people I have known over the years, has shown that lifestyle to be a caring and loving one. In my writing, I hope that I capture something of the beauty of that way life and something of the normality of it.

Why do you write?

Why not? Being creative is what I do, either in writing or with art. Why do we eat and drink?


What are you writing now?

I have two stories on the go, at the moment. The first is a follow up story to the one I wrote for Black Velvet Seductions. It was “The Anniversary” in the anthology “The Crimson Z.” The new story "Temporally Yours" concerns a couple with busy lives and their struggle to get the time they needed, to commit to a loving D/s relationship. The second story I am working on is called "The Trainer." It is about a couple who fell in love, but took love for granted. It takes the help of "the trainer" to set them back on the path to true happiness.

What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

The right clothes for the right occasion. I am happy in a suit. At a black tie function, a tux. Working in the garden, jeans. When writing or creating art work I look for comfortable clothes, something loose fitting.

Do you have a dream lover – and what does she look like?

Well I fantasize, the same as everyone else, the woman in my mind can shift, she takes on the characteristics of the characters I am working on but has no form as such. I am less worried about the physical in fantasy. Personalities are much more important than physical appearance. The erotic comes from within. Not the physical.

What kind of comfort food do you like best?

Most things chocolate. I do like old traditional English dishes, both sweet and savoury. Favourites include “toad in the hole” Cornish pasties, treacle sponge. I will give you the recipes if you want to try them.

What makes you laugh? Cry?

A lot makes me laugh. I do like topical humour, I like old gags. But most things amuse me. I find humour in most things. For crying, that is something I didn’t do since childhood, typical repressed Englishman, but I had the emotional lid taken off last year when my father died, and I have been trying to get that lid back on for the past year.

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?
Not working?? What is that? I work about 80 - 100 hours a week and have done for the past 20 years. For amusement that is my work, I love what I do, would spend more time doing it if I could. Hobbies away from work? I am fond of my cat and my Bonsai trees.

What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!

I like creative people who have a willingness to explore.

What do you hate about life?

I love life on the whole and I don’t have much time for hate. I do get irritated so here are my top 5 irritations.

1. Not enough time
2. Being hassled
3. Being interrupted
4. Impossible deadlines, causing me to work through the night (never missed a deadline to date)
5. Not enough time

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

What a question. Made me laugh out loud, sorry. Success how can you ever measure it? Success is measured by others really. To say I want to be a success implies a finish line. I have difficulty thinking in those terms. I want to be the best writer I can be and the best artist I can be. The only person I compete against is me. I try hard and I consider I work hard. This question will amuse my friend and publisher from Black Velvet Seductions, Laurie Sanders. We have joked about success in terms of us buying Ferraris, but it is just a joke, a metaphor for being financially buoyant enough to be able to waste money on something we don’t need.

What are you going to write next?

Well the next one to be finished is the story I mentioned, “The Trainer”. After that I have some ideas for another story or two. I usually have more ideas than I have time to work on them.

Tell us a little about yourself

I grew up at a fishing and hunting resort, way up north where the mosquitoes can carry you away. I eventually became a fishing guide on a lake large enough and populated by so many islands, it was easy to get lost for anybody with untrained eyes. That lake was my backyard. Well, this man comes to my bed every night. I don't know how he figures he has the right to claim me, but he does. He is my mechanic after all, and pays for my car, so I don't argue with him. I just quietly accept his presence. Is this love that I'm feeling? Could be.*wg*

What makes you laugh? Cry?

I laugh a lot. There isn't much that I take too seriously, but I'd have to say what I laugh at the most is how hubby looks when he comes home from work. On a hot day he'll be wearing shorts and work socks and boots, with a old muscle short with (what looks like) gun shot holes all over it, and of course his face has smudge marks. The best part is seeing his nipples through the holes in the muscle shirt. LOL! He looks so cute, makes me want to jump him when he gets home.

As crazy as this sounds, I was raised not to cry-- unless I lose those near and dear to me. I can honestly say that I've lived by that rule, and I know it isn't healthy, old habits die hard as they say. My frustration with this tends to come out in my dialogue between feuding couples. I'm sure I'm due for a good sob one of these days and it will probably be from a sappy movie. lol

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?

I'm fortunate to have great neighbors, who are dear friends. We are die-hards. Rain or shine, we are out in the back drinking beer round the barby. When the beer runs dry we walk just down the street to the strip bar for some entertainment. It's all good. :)

What is it in a man or woman that turns you on?

A smile attracts me like a moth to the flame, as well as hands. I like big strong hands. Ones that can harm you, yet touch you like you're a delicate flower. But there are so many things about men and women that are attractive, it depends on my mood, and my mood changes like the weather. lol

What do you hate about life?

I hate being bloated.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know you have been a success?

I will only be a success when my son has found his way in the world and is happy-- then I can put the whip down and relax. lol For myself, I want to be remembered as a writer who held nothing back and lived to see a few smiles from readers. I don't need to become the next famous author, I just want to be heard.

What are you going to write next?

A series about the street I live on which has a lot of history, mainly regarding the men who've lived here. I think it could be a x-rated soap opera! Would you watch a soap opera with porno tunes in the background, instead of the usual elevator music? HELL YEAH!!!!!

What do you write?
I just started writing erotic romance this year on a dare to myself. I giggled at the first sexy scene I wrote but after the first scene of incredible sexy with two men (AS YOU WISH) coming soon to Mardi Gras, I was okay with it and figured, Hey this is pretty good.

Why do you write?
I write as a hobby. It’s entertaining and I like to throw in a bit of comedy here and there. Laughter is a healing and sometimes life gets too serious.

I just finished Masterpiece releasing on the 27th of July with Dark Eden Press and I’m thinking Cowboys are in my future for my next story.

What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

The characters are as delightful as ever they were, the humour nicely balanced and the plots bear similarities to many woven into the original Austen novels; though never mirror images they are familiar enough in tone and temperament to satisfy those who can never get enough of Miss Austen’s work. While Kitty is not Marianne, she is plunged into a situation not far different from that of poor Miss Dashwood when she believed herself loved, but with far less reason, and far less suffering; her sensibilities recover quite quickly once she returns to Mrs Bingley’s house and receives the flattering attention of Mr Moorland.

Sequels will always arouse controversy, because some people love them and others do not approve. However, I found this a charming read and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I would give it five red roses. Morna

We hear about Georgiana, Lydia, Kitty, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Mr Bennett and of course Mrs Bennett’s nerves! Also there are quite a few neighbours, some of whom seem to fit nicely with characters from other Jane Austen novels.

The book has humour and charm, which one would expect from something written as a tribute to fans of the incomparable Jane Austen. Because it is in the form of letters written in the first person it is easier to read than some sequels and should therefore appeal to readers who may love the films but have not actually read the books and would find the original heavy going perhaps. This book flows along and I found it very enjoyable. It is interesting to read about what their life might have been like after marriage.

I am a 30 year old single mom who has been writing most of her life. I started in grade school by writing poetry and thought for a long time I didn’t write much of anything, I never gave up my passion for good literature. I wrote my first novel after having surgery and needing to remain on bed rest for an extended period of time. Today, I continue to write and don’t see myself as ever giving it up. I have also worked with the chronically mentally ill and dually diagnosed clients, both adult and juvenile. I enjoy crocheting, making scrapbooks and memory posters. Reading, listening to music and watching good movies.


What do you write? I write contemporary romance and Erotic Romance. I am hoping in the future to delve into suspense and mystery, however at this time my heart lies with Romance.


Why do you write? I write because I enjoy it. It’s a way for me to express myself and entertain others. There’s nothing that makes me happier than curling up with my laptop and being able to let a story flow out of me.


What are you writing now? Right now I am working on a couple of things. Perfect Game is a contemporary romance that revolves around a Pitcher from the Santa Fe, Devils who faces a career threatening injury. While recovering he develops a relationship with the coach’s daughter who has recently come to town. It’s really a great novel that deals a lot with self esteem and being able to be yourself.

Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a veteran Kindergarten and music teacher here in my little south Texas coastal town where my husband and I raised our two sons. I started writing when I was in elementary school, and have never let up.

It was only after my hubby’s heart transplant surgery in 2001 that I began writing romance stories in earnest, but didn’t have the courage to submit them until 2006. I’ve since had 4 books published, with 3 more due out before the end of 2007, and 3 more contracted (publishing dates unknown as I write this.) And that’s not counting the 5 other books out right now being looked at by other publishers.



What do you write?

I write lush romantic novels with a hint of science fiction or fantasy. They’re richly detailed, with sensuous love scenes that will warm your heart, action and adventure that will get your blood pumping, and characters who seem to leap off the pages as though you’re watching a movie in book form.

Every one of my books is different and unique. And sometimes my writing style is a little bit different as well, depending on the story.



Why do you write?

I write the kind of stories I want to read, basically. In the beginning my works were escape-isms for me. They still are.



What are you writing now?

I’m currently finishing up one book which is a paranormal love story about a dead cop who is searching for his killer and his missing body, and the blind psychic he falls in love with. I’m also writing a very gritty urban fantasy about a woman whose job it is to kill the creatures who inhabit mass murderers, which I would like to send to an agent if I can get up the nerve. LOL!

Oh, yeah. Hubby and I will celebrate 25 years next Jan. It’s amazing how much richer love grows when you almost lose someone you’re deeply connected to.

Umm... I guess you could say I vicariously live through my heroines when they love their lovers. Don’t we all?

Trail mix. Starbuck’s mocha frappicchinos. I practically live on the stuff when I’m writing. Otherwise I’m a fairly decent southern girl cook. My family’s never complained. Living spitting distance from the gulf coast, I eat lots of seafood, so I guess you could say it’s my weakness.



What makes you laugh? Cry?

Laugh? Spontaneous people who are honest and open.

Cry? Heart-wrenching love stories and movies with HEAs. And people who put me down because I write what my heart tells me to, and not what they think I should.

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?

Umm, ever own a pug? Seriously, I spend time with friends and family. I love to travel and wish I could do more.

Honesty. Someone you won’t fear will turn on you, but who values you for you, and is willing to listen to you without judgment or prejudice.

What do you hate about life?

It’s brevity.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

I told my hubby I’m not looking or aiming to be on anyone’s best seller list. I just want to be able to walk into a drugstore or supermarket - or bookstore at the airport! - and see one of my books on the shelf. That’s all. Of course, I would have to be mass market produced, so that’s my ultimate goal. Like Barry Manilow once said, when he got into an elevator and heard his works piped through Musak, he knew he’d make it. LOL!

What are you going to write next?

I’m going to write a story about a woodland faery who has to take human form and save her beloved home from deforestation. She ends up falling in love with the forest ranger she’s forced to work with. It’s entitled A Faery’s Tale, and it’s already outlined and ready to start.

Querl rushes Mareesa back home to Skandia so the other healers can restore her health. She lives but is back in close proximity to the solider so her life is still in danger from him. Shortly after returning to Bothe Querl receives an urgent summons to return to Skandia. There he finds Mareesa in danger and must fight the soldier to save her. Querl takes her back to Bothe but they still need to find out who is behind the attacks. When it is reveled who is behind the attacks and why. It really makes for a great twist in the story.



This is a great book and a must read. The story keeps you enthralled to the point you don’t want to put it down. The author did a great job of building the characters and story line. I would love to read more from this author.

I started writing fiction about two years ago. I think of my writing as the third phase of my adult life, having been a Telephony Engineer and a home designer/builder.

What do you write?

A little of this and a little of that. Long, short, in between, thrillers, chick-lit, romance, paranormal and lascivious, erotica. Frankly, my writing has been all over the place. Eclectic, would be a good way to describe it. So far, the only common thread—and it’s a big one—is sex.


Why do you write?

Other than pleasing my readers, it’s probably an ego thing. I want to see how far I can go. I do need a good crit partner though. I have a tendency to…shall we say go over the top.

I wish I hadn’t waited so long. Now that I’ve started, I can’t and don’t want to stop. I surprised myself and keep surprising myself. Reading stories are fun, but they are not nearly as much fun as creating that story.


What are you writing now?

I’m finishing up one of those naughty little lascivious erotic teasers I mentioned called Gizmo. One of my crit-partners says it’s borderline disgusting and another says it’s an awesome piece of work. Nothing like controversy.

I’m also writing my first Paranormal, called Hollywood Witches. So far the test readers are digging it.

For the record I have another novel, Getting Naked at the Hilton, (A sexual romp, disguised as a romance) and a novelette, Forbidden, in pre-publication. Forbidden is scheduled for release this month from Dark Eden.

What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

If you’re looking for fashion hints, you’re in the wrong place. Unless there’s something special going on, I dress casual, jeans and topsiders. No shorts or flipflops. Around my house, even more casual, pajama bottoms and a tee shirt.


Are you in love? Have you ever been?

Besides my fabulous wife? Once or twice a long time ago. January 8th was my twenty-fifth anniversary and I’ve been good.

Do you have a dream lover – and what does he or she look like?

If I was a gay man or a straight woman, I might think Hugh Jackman was interesting, but since I’m not, I’d have to say a composite of all my leading ladies, who not surprisingly are all pretty much good looking. Of course my wife, with her fantastic legs, is in the mix as well. Is it any wonder my last novel was entitled LEGS?



What kind of comfort food do you like best?

I’ll get even with you for this question! Hmmm? Let’s start with home made snack mix with macadamia and corn nuts, Nathan’s or Hebrew National hot dogs, Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip ice cream, chilli-cheese dip and Tostitos…hell that’s enough.

What makes you laugh? Cry?

Laugh - Bush jokes. Cry – Bush. Seriously, men don’t cry. Right?
Wrong. Confession time. I don’t cry like Waaaa waaaa unless I stub my toe, but parts of my books will make my eyes water profusely. Even thinking of the end of Legs will bring tears to my eyes.

What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?

What? Oh, amuse. I thought you said…never mind. Serious. I’m a news junkie. And a music junkie. I use to read a lot but can’t find the time now, plus I’ve gotten in the habit of critiquing the Icons of literature.


What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!

Legs. Can I say that again? Legs, remember the book!For me a woman doesn’t have to be gorgeous just pleasant looking and personally, I’m not into exaggerated shapes. I’m more into lean and mean.

I also like independence, intelligence, wit and vainity. I think a woman should be vain enough that she doesn’t let herself go as she gets older.

What do you hate about life?

Bills! I hate effing bills. Besides bills, there are difficult people. Religious elitists. But-in-skis. People with a me first attitude. People that drive…I better stop before I step on someone’s toes.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

I hope to be writing full time and eventually write something that makes the Times bestseller list. I think I can do it. Oh, did I mention above that I suffer from a confidence complex.

What are you going to write next?

I’ll probably try to finish some of my unfinished projects, to wit, a screenplay of my second book Fortune Cookies, A sequel to that same book called The Fellowship of Eros. A sequel, entitled A Woman of Valour, to my first book The Right Hand of Allah. A book about organized crime and religion called The Televangelist and last a book about a murder in a home I used to own called the Telemarketer.

Tell us a little about yourself

I’m not sure you want to know, lol. I’m 27, I live in Missouri with my five year old son whom I affectionately refer to as “Peanut”. He is the best thing I have ever and will ever do. I’m silly, clumsy and love Halloween. I collect witches. My kitchen is full of them, lol.

I love anything creative…..writing, painting, designing. I used to own a crafts business where I made and sold patterns for dolls and other fabric sculptures.


What do you write?

Paranormal all the way. I’m infatuated with anything un-real, lol. And, of course, it’s got to be romance!


Why do you write?

Escape. The same reason that I read. It takes me to a place where I can create anybody and anything I wish.


What are you writing now?

Right now I’m in the process of trying to finish one of my upcoming releases with Dark Eden Press. It’s called Sinless Rogue and is about a lady vamp who carries big burdens and also has other unworldly powers other than her vamp status (has to stay a secret, lol).


What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

Hanes all the way, lol. If it has elastic and no tag, I’m in it, rofl. Unless I’m riding my horses, then I’m in jeans, but I usually crawl out of them the minute I’m able.


Are you in love? Have you ever been?

Oh, boy, am I ever in love. A cowboy who was the first person to ever believe in me, through everything. He’s tall and looks a bit like Hugh Jackman, which is why I love the actor and all his movies, he reminds me of my sweetheart…..or is it the other way around??....rofl. My book, Bayou Summons, was dedicated to my love.


Do you have a dream lover – and what does he look like?

You know, I do have a dream lover, but I’ve never really paid too much attention to his face, lol. But, now thinking of it, I’d say he has really dark blonde hair and is tall, muscular with the chiselled face of every warrior hero.


What kind of comfort food do you like best?

Anything that is loaded with carbs and guaranteed to go straight to my hips, lol. I love biscuits and bread and green beans…YUM!


What makes you laugh? Cry?

My son makes me laugh. I cry for lots of different reasons, sometimes it’s just because I need to. I’m a big believer in emotions and showing them. Unless I’m mad, I never show those, lol.


What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?

My son and I have saber fights, does that count??.....lol…he usually wants to be Darth Vader, I keep telling him that he doesn’t want to be evil, but he doesn’t listen. The force is strong in that one, lol.


What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!

I love hands……something about a man’s hands that drive me crazy. For me, they can make or break my attraction, lol.

What do you hate about life?

The realization that you really can’t protect your children from everything.

What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

My only hope is to support myself and my son. To be able to put aside money just in case he wants to go to college. For me, that would be ultimate satisfaction. If it was anything more than that, I’d probably die of a heart attack and not be able to enjoy it anyway, lol.

What are you going to write next?

I’m working on a book for Dark Eden Press that will probably release after Sinless Rogue, which would be September, I believe. The only thing I can say is that it might be different from what I’m used to…..*zipping lips*

Jesse's mother warned him that the murderer called the Cab Cutter was on the loose, but he laughed at her and got a slap on the ear for it, the way mother's do. Jesse was feeling low despite his brand new cab and good business, because his girlfriend deserted him for another girl! Then he met the beautiful Sophie, who had just been dumped by her fiance. She smells so gorgeous that his senses go reeling and he is already halfway in love with her, but before he could get to know her the Cab Cutter struck. He had decided to change his weapon to a gun for some mad reason, and shoots Jesse.

This is an out of body experience and had me in fits of laughter. Jesse manages to have a rather pleasant, dreamlike sensual sequence with the girl he loves, but his grandfather appears shortly after (has he been peeking?) and demands that Jesse gets on with the job of stopping Eddie (the Cab Cutter) instead of enjoying himself and then gives him a clip at the back of the head. Jesse seems to get a lot of this, but like all truly scrumptious guys who could flatten their assailant he doesn't, and that is why I love him. Can he get Eddie and the girl, or will Sophie's former boyfriend get her - and is Jesse truly a ghost? You have to buy this book and find out!

I adore this very funny, absolutely mad romp. Romp is a word normally reserved for Regency novels but in this case this beautifully crafted book deserves the accolade. I laughed until I ached. I award Saving Sophie a bouquet of fragrant red roses and hope that I shall have the pleasure of reading lots more of the same from this author, Anne

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of love that will not die and the turmoil of friends who are there for each other despite all that happens to rip them apart. Anstey is a promising writer who deserves success and should get it. I give this book five red roses. Anne

Tell us a little about yourself
I’m a writer, (I love being able to say that), an English teacher who will defend to the death the validity of romantic fiction, a mother, a wife, a skier and sailor. Oh, and an ex-motorcycle racer and mechanic. I live on the shores of Australia’s largest coastal lake, and really can’t imagine ever being away from the water for long.


What do you write?
I write romantic comedy and romantic suspense, but even there I’ll try to put something in to make you laugh.


Why do you write?
I write because I have a compulsion to know that something I’m doing is making people feel good. I could have tried being a doctor I suppose, but I just can’t get past the pain thing. If anyone’s hurting I don’t want to be there. Also, the truth is, I love making up lies.


What are you writing now?
I’m working on a story, Best Before. It examines one woman’s fight against the way society ignores women when they reach a certain age. (I don’t know what on earth can have prompted that, but the next person who mentions the words 50th birthday DIES) Of course, since I am the author, and therefore all-powerful, the older woman gets the hot young hunk, the fantasy job and is publicly lauded for her everlasting beauty. Did I mention that I LOVE fiction?


What kind of clothes do you like to wear?
No frills, no fuss. Nothing that I’m going to mourn if it gets ruined. I never did manage to be the blue-eyed blonde angel my mother wanted. I grew up a tom-boy and it’s still reflected in my clothes. I do lust after boots. Purple ones, red ones, high heel tart ones. I don’t care. I want them all.


Are you in love? Have you ever been?
When I was 20 I met a man at a New Year’s Eve party. Everything screamed classic romantic bad-boy. Black leather, hot body, long hair. I was gone. We married four months later, (it took that long to get our parents to agree to sign the papers). My mother says it will never last. Who knows? Maybe she’s right because it hasn’t been long at all yet, only 30 years or so.


Do you have a dream lover – and what does he look like?
See above. I swear the sight of a man on a motor bike with helmet and leathers still makes me go all weak at the knees in remembrance.


What kind of comfort food do you like best?
Mashed potato. So sue me. It is my comfort food extraordinaire. I guess it’s just plain ordinary too.


What makes you laugh? Cry?
I love good comedy, especially Monty Python. It makes me cry that I can almost recite all of The Holy Grail.


What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?
I write. I have a full time job and two kids. When am I not working? I do, however, always make time to get in some snow skiing in winter.


What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!
Besides intelligence and a sense of humour, I have a thing for voices. It partially explains my fascination with Alan Rickman. That voice. Yum.

What do you hate about life?
Life, I love. People who make judgements about those who enjoy different aspects of life, I don’t love. If it isn’t actually hurting you, but you don’t like it, look the other way. Let it go. Let people get on with their own lives. Violence and condemnation is never the answer.


What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?
When my children are grown and healthy and happy, that will be my greatest success. In my writing, one day I want to see someone reading one of my books. I’ll ask, “Do you like that?” If they say “Yes”, I’ll be able to say, “I wrote it.” That will feel good.

What are you going to write next?
A note to explain why my sixteen year old son is late with his History assignment I suspect. He was creating a Gothic style manga story instead. I don’t understand it. Where does he get this tendency to sit around writing when he should be doing more serious stuff? Excuse me, I have to go. My daughter just Instant Messaged me from upstairs to inform me that apparently children have been known to starve to death when their mother hasn’t done any grocery shopping for days.
