Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Sheniqua Waters and I love to read historical romances. I began reading them as a teenager and still read them to this day. I love historical romances so much I now write them. My first novel, Slave Girl by Sheniqua Waters, was recently released by Red Rose Publishing.
Slave Girl is the tantalizing story of a young Egyptian beauty who is kidnapped from the banks of the Nile River and sold into slavery. She is placed on an auction block in Constantinople and sold into a Turkish harem. In the harem she must deal with harem politics and jealousy from the other women when she becomes their Master’s favorite.
What do you write?
I write historical romance novels that hook readers from the first sentence. My stories take readers on a fast paced, emotional roller coaster ride and transports them into a spectacular time in the past.
Why do you write?
I write because I love doing it. Writing is a part of me. I enjoy creating a piece of work that did not exist before and love sharing it with others so they can enjoy it.
What are you writing now?
I am writing a romance that takes place just before the Civil War. It is called Something to Hide and is about a auburn haired beauty named Lily Cunningham who is kidnapped and forced into slavery. Years later, Lily finds her way back to her husband Brock. But, will she find that her marriage has survived her absence? Or will she find she has lost her husband to the arms of another woman?
As secrets from the past threaten to tear the couple apart an unexpected encounter puts Brock’s life on the line and leaves Lily with a difficult choice to make. How far will Lily go to save her husband? And, can she live with the unforeseen consequences of her choice without something to hide?
What kind of clothes do you like to wear?
I like wearing comfortable yet classy clothes.
Are you in love? Have you ever been?
I write stories about imaginary heroes who are handsome, strong and courageous. Luckily, I have been blessed with my own real life hero, my husband, Burt.
Do you have a dream lover – and what does he or she look like?
When I was single, I dreamt of meeting a guy who was trustworthy, loyal and a good provider. As I thought about the characteristics that were important to me, I realized I might not meet a guy who had great character and was also handsome.
I finally met my dream guy. He is my husband and I can happily say I did not have to give up getting a guy with good looks and good character because my husband Burt has both!
What kind of comfort food do you like best?
Milk chocolate! Chocolate is food right?
What makes you laugh? Cry?
Talking to a friend makes me laugh. Saying goodbye to a good friend makes me cry.
What do you do to amuse yourself when not working?
I like to read and/ or write when I am not working.
What is it in a man or woman that turns you on? The clean version please!
Honesty, kindness and friendliness are attractive in anyone.
What do you hate about life?
I can’t eat chocolate for breakfast!
What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?
My dream was to have a book published. Thanks to Wendi Felter, owner of Red Rose Publishing, that dream of mine has come true!
What are you going to write next?
I am still trying to decide that. What ever I chose will be wonderfully intriguing, I promise you that!

What a lovely interview, and nice to know you found your own hero! Plus...what's stopping you eat chocolate for breakfast?
